And we have a winner!

My husband chose the winner for today's drawing, #59, Cheryl!
And he's random enough that I figured I'd go with it.

I am lacking purple, but that is okay because I don't really like purple. I love blues though, those fat quarters are very pretty.

{Fabric Love + A Rainy Day Giveaway}

We're getting some much needed rain today, so what better to do than stay home and sew?!
 Anyhow...
The CMQG went on a little Shop Hop from Waynesville to Cincinnati, hitting up three Quilt Shops plus Ikea!  Yay!  We loaded up on fabric, got to know each other, and had a blast along the way!  The above fabrics are from {THE} Fabric Shack, and SEWN Studio... my previous post I told you about a new quilt pattern I bought, and that was from Lavender Street Quilts, also part of this Shop Hop!  I came home with my wallet a bit lighter, but that's all right... I think I restrained myself pretty well, considering.

And do you think I'd come home with nothing to share with you?
Of course not!
I've set aside two yummy fat quarters to giveaway to one groovy reader!
Navy blue Pez and Bicycle's from Lucy's Crab Shack collection round it out...

Now, just leave me a comment saying what color (or colors) you are LACKING in your fabric stash.
And you're entered!
{International entries welcome!  Just be sure you're not a "no-reply" commenter, because if I have no way to contact you, I'll chose another name - I kid you not!}
Giveaway open through Friday, July 27th, then I'll announce the winner on Saturday!

I'm sorely lacking in navy and purples... surprise.  And I have TOO MUCH orange, pink, and green.

Yummy Pattern!

After enjoying the sight of my very first jelly roll... and allowing it to sit and get comfy in the cabinet, I've found the perfect pattern to use it with!  After many months of browsing Flickr, Pinterest, and the Moda Bakeshop I sort of decided to stop looking.  The right pattern would find me.  Whilst visiting Lavender Street Quilts this past weekend, Jaybird Quilts "Yummy" pattern to the rescue!  I saw this quilt pattern and knew it was The One!  Do check out Julie's other patterns... they're all delicious!

I wanted simple piecing and use of my jelly roll, but modern fresh design.  I think the grey & yellow quilt on the cover drew me in first, SHOCKING, I know!  And this is my first proper quilt pattern purchase!  I'm kind of excited... following a pattern, eek!  But its fail-safe, right?!

And besides my Little Apples jelly roll, I pulled a bit of yardage from my stash... I'm a fan!

 Of course I'm not going to actually START this Little Apples quilt until I get my QuiltCon entry started and well on its way to completion... which I started today!  Is anyone planning on attending QuiltCon???  I did a quick search of current airfare prices and looks like $400+ will get me there.  Why oh why do all the cool quilt gatherings happen in Texas and California and Colorado?  What's wrong with Ohio for a location?  Yeah, I know.  It's Ohio.

So DO TELL if you're going!!!  If I cannot be there in person, I'll at least have a quilt to represent!

Sanctuary Quilt

As my little guy would say, "All dum!"

 [fabric collection called "Sanctuary" by Patty Young]
 [a few other geometric prints were thrown in to round it out to 12 blocks - more on that here]
[I've been told this is a version of a snowball quilt]
[measures 64" square]

 [pebble quilting wore me out, but I love the effect]
[over 1500m of thread, eek]

 [backing is a flat sheet from Target, LOVE]

 [scrappy binding, hand sewn]

I know Hazel hasn't been in my photos lately... ok, in the last 2 years... so I made a point to yank her from outside and hold a treat to make her sit still for a moment.  She's still cute as a button and LOVING our new house, and especially the back yard.

As we speak, I'm on my first quilt shop hop with girls from the Columbus Modern Quilt Guild... we're heading south to Fabric Shack in Waynesville, then to Lavender Street Quilts, SEWN Studio , and lastly IKEA in Northern Cincinnati.  I know its a lot for one day but I think we can do it! Here's to hoping I come home with a penny to my name!

Holiday Stitching

Happy Independence Day!
(should you be American)

 I hope you're passing this fine day with family, friends, parades, cookouts, and fireworks!
I'm taking Eli's nap time to attach binding, one of my favorite parts of quilting!
