What the what? TWINS!

I've been trying to come up with a clever/deep/compelling/adorable/surprising way to announce this, but there really is no complicated way to put it.
We're expecting TWINS!
See the two little boogers in there?  They're in separate chambers which means they could be identical or fraternal.  If they're boy/girl then definitely fraternal, otherwise we'll find out once they're born!

I'm currently 13 weeks along, starting to get some energy back... and due around March-April.

So there's a fabulous reason to do another give-away - two babies, along with surpassing 500 followers (THANK YOU to all my peeps!) and over 250 Etsy sales... why not have three Fridays of baby themed items to give away?
Look for the first give away next Friday and all your baby gift giving dilemmas could be solved!  They're all handmade items and you won't want to miss it!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! As the same thing happened to me almost 10 years ago, I can tell you the "What? Is this really happening to me?" continues for almost the whole pregnancy and beyond!!! I am still amazed that I have two kids the same age.... I remember driving home that day and thinking all kinds of random thoughts... "we can't fit in our car anymore" to " they will learn to drive at the same time" to "i need another crib" to "how will i nurse?" and on and on and on...!!!

My sister had twins for her first pregnancy and she found out about a month before having them that she had two... no wonder she was so big and folks at the grocery store were telling her she was having twins...!

I read and loved "When you are expecting twins, triplets or quads" (Luke/Eberlein). This book is all about making sure now that you are a "high risk pregnancy" to eat well so that you babies weights are as high as they can be. It gives great advice about eating - and lots of other things, too. I gained a TON of weight and ate a lot of healthy foods (and milkshakes!) but my babies born at 36 weeks and were both over 6 pounds (as opposed to my sister's who were born at 33 weeks and were almost 3 and almost 4 pounds).

All the best to you as you process through the enormity of this pregnancy and stay sane!! Another thing I would recommend is having someone stay with you as long as possible afterwards. We had multiple family members come to stay with us. Mother-in-law, mother, aunt, sister, sister in law all coming for a few days or a week at a time. This was fantastic because I could occasionally get time in with my oldest and she had special time with our special guests, too. I couldn't have stuck to nursing without this help!

You'll get so much advise... twin mommies will come out of the woodwork!!! All the best to you ~ I'll certainly be thinking about you. (AND two other bloggers having or have had twins who I have been following: sortacrunchy ~ she's about half-way and stitcherydickorydock just had her tinies a few weeks ago.

xoxo!

'gefeliciteerd' as we say in Dutch! I have twin girls myself although I can't say girls anymore because they are 25 already :-) Born at 31 weeks 1600 and 1800 grams but healthy all the way. Enjoy the special bond twins can have.
