420" of binding cut for the custom King sized quilt I'm working on...
Strips cut to 2.5" wide since I'll be handing stitching it down.
(Yes, I know it takes immensely more time than machine binding, but I want this quilt to be of heirloom quality, and I consider hand binding it to be... well... the "proper" way of finishing a quilt.)
I'm jumping a bit ahead as the quilt itself isn't quilted yet! I just ordered 10 yards of fabric for the backing so while I wait for that to arrive... minus well do something useful, right?!

Wowza! That's a lot of binding. I'm binding a quilt too, but only 68"x76", so less than 300" total. Your quilt is going to be gorgeous.

Hand binding has become the custom for me. Love the fabrics you are using.
The binding strips are beautiful, just on their own, so I can't wait to see the finished quilt!
It depends on the quilt whether I hand stitch or machine stitch the binding. If I am making a gift, definitely hand stitched...I would feel way too guilty if I machine stitched.

I am on your side: from Mug Rug to King Size I only hand sew my binding (to the back). I also prefer the blind hem/slip stitch instead of the whip stitch. Nearly invisible and more durable.
