Befitting an Arctic Day

I finished this Eggplant colored afghan for my SIL last Friday... happy birthday Jess!
Its rather large, big enough to snuggle under for a nap.
The yarn is by Caron (1lb per skein) and this took 2.5 skeins.
The pattern is just a rectangular granny square. I rather enjoy a pattern you don't have to count... I prefer to crochet mindlessly while watching tv, chatting in the car, or waiting at the Dr. office.

I've got a few quilty projects in the works... one big, a few small.
And I'd love to find a pattern for little boy (infant to toddler size) pants. I've seen them around the web but need to do some more research to find a free or inexpensive pattern. Or maybe just buy a {used} copy of AMH's book, Handmade Beginnings. But why would anyone want to sell their copy? The book has gotten such rave reviews! Hmmm...

**edit** I did find a cute little pair of pants in Simple Sewing for Baby by Lotta Jansdotter. Might give that a try this weekend! AND was given a link for these adorable little "Big Butt Baby Pants" perfect for cloth diaper bums! How can I choose? Or shall I make both...

I was able to check out Handmade Beginnings from my library. It even came with all the patterns so I could trace what I was going to make.

So, give your local library a try.

Love it. I can't believe how big Eli is now. It just seems like yesterday. I do think of you often over in my crazy crochet land.

Toodles,

My go-to pants pattern for the boys is by the scientific seamstress. http://www.scientificseamstress.com/catalog/easyfitpants.html

It is:
1)Insanely quick and easy, which I like in a pants pattern, because, lets face it, no one is going to ooooh and ahhhh over your handmade pants.
2)Totally customizable. She gives you all the measurements to turn them into shorts, you can appliqué them, add pockets, whatever.
3)The pattern includes every size you'll ever need. Trust me, by the time your little one outgrows this pattern, he will be refusing to wear your creations. I know this from experience.

I've made at least 15 pairs for my 3 boys.

I love this big blankie! The color is great and this is a perfect project to do while watching t.v. Great idea!

I'll have to check out Handmade Beginnings. Always looking for new ideas.

Have a great evening!

Love the afghan! I'm crocheting a simple wave afghan right now for the same reason. It's mindless work I do while watching TV with my husband.
