Long Arm of the law...

The Law of Long Arm states:
You will quilt that 6'x6' quilt in no time!

Its true! I took the class to learn to use this amazing, fast long arm machine at my LQS and now I'm hooked! It took an hour to set up (thanks for your help Jen!) then I went to town doing a meandering stippled free-motion design and boom! One hour later I was done!

This sweet piece of technology has a stitch regulator so EVERY stitch is the same length... no matter how fast or slow you move. Yes, its my new best friend when I have a large quilt to finish.
Baby quilts I can still manage on my little Janome at home.

If your local quilt shop offers Long Arm rental time - take advantage of it! Learn how to use it and you'll be amazed how quickly and easily the quilting part will go! No more wrestling matches with big quilts at home. Yay!

And I just finished the binding on this quilt today and its in the dryer as we speak... will be handing it over to my sister this weekend! And I think a little photo shoot is in order!
Only about a month late as a Christmas gift. This year, I'm starting my Christmas projects in June. I kid you not.

ps: My new crafty friend, Leslie over at Jar of Vintage Buttons, is featuring me on her blog today!
I met her at a craft show in N. Kentucky and she's even putting together a MODERN craft show that will be held this November in Florence! More info to come! Thanks for the love, girl!

I'm totally jealous of your long arm availability. I can't even face the thought of tugging and pulling another quilt through my machine. Love the quilt and can't wait to see it all bound and crinkly!

That is great! I've never tried to use a long arm machine before - but you make it sound like fun!

That is SO cool! I need to see if anywhere around here does this. The only shop by me that I know had one closed. boo hiss! I don't think they rented it to use anyway though.

Did you ever blog about your craft show? Need to go see if I missed that one. How cool that there is going to be a modern craft show! Maybe I will be in Cincy that weekend visiting my family and I can swing down and meet you!

Oh man...we're in trouble aren't we?? That Avante is so darn cool. Now you know how I felt at the Sew-in when I came back with my finished quilted quilt! I imagine I'll be seeing you up at Quilt Trends on the HQ often! :)

I didn't even know one could rent time on the long arm! May I ask what I should expect to pay?

Well...I can't believe this, but I was actually in the shop while you were quilting this. I had stopped in for some fat quarters and thought, "Oooo...that looks like fun!" Small world, no? The quilt looked great, and I can't wait to see it all finished! :)

Bargain Babe,
Time is rented $75 for 6hrs worth of quilting.... not bad at all!

very cool! When I got my machine, (It's only a mid-arm) they had it hooked up to a frame with the stitch regulator and it was so fun. But with a mid arm, you can't cover as much area...but still! Someday, I think I'll get that frame and set-up...better than nothing! you're lucky to have that that you can use! Perfect for big quilts, I'm sure!
