I've been wanting to sew a little outfit for Eli since he was born, and heaven knows I'm no seamstress! I coerced my MIL into helping me decipher and sew a pattern from Amy Butler's book Little Stitches for Little Ones. These are the Kimono Style Pajamas featured on the cover of the book, and they are easier to make than the directions in the book make them out to be. My partner-in-crime has lots of experience with traditional clothing patterns and she agrees. I don't know if any of you have made this set, if so, what did you think about the process?
The single-fold bias tape didn't make any sense - neither how to make it nor how to attach it to the top. It was sort of like quilt binding, sort of. So we decided to wing it and it turned out just fine... as I knew it would! And boy are these jammies adorable! Eli loves red and orange (what baby doesn't?) so I bought this fun Tufted Tweets fabric from my fav little fabric shop in Clintonville. I used the size 6-9 month pattern and its a tad large on the boy. He's about 5 months old now, and well over 16lbs. I was hoping they'd fit for the fall and early winter, which should be about right. The little ties are my favorite, one on the inside and one on the outside.
As usual, I couldn't choose just one photo, so here are a few more! Smiles all around!
