Friday Finish!

Ok, I actually finished this last Saturday while watching the Olympics, but "Friday Finish" sounds better, huh? This will be baby's first afghan! Its so soft and cuddly I may stick it in the diaper bag to go to the hospital too. All yarn is from Joanns (Bernat Baby Sport) and the variegated blue is my favorite! I saw yesterday that its also in pink and a few other colors which is good to know. AND Bernat now makes it in a big skein.... which I usually go for instead of the tiny skeins.

As I've noted in other posts, I used two different stitches... alternating a Front Post Double Crochet and a Back Post Double Crochet for that super cozy waffle-weave type look. Finished size is about 30" x 40".

I edged the entire blanket with about 4 rows of single crochet stitches... and have I said I LOVE this blanket? Erm, afghan... I think my new little one will love it too :-)
Now, who wants to teach me how to knit????

Very pretty! It looks so cozy and soft. If you can crochet like this, knitting will be a breeze!

Lovely.
My girls blankies are indeed crocheted, despite the proliferation of quilts in the house. Thankfully they were gifted by a kind family friend.

Just lovely! You can almost feel the softness just looking at it :).

Beautiful and looks soooo soft! I knit and crochet but I'm starting to prefer crocheting. You should'nt have any problem learning to knit, I think it's a lot easier then crocheting except with crocheting you can fix your mistakes easier.

If you teach me to crochet, I will teach you all of my limited knowledge of knitting! Wish we lived closer it would be a date indeed!

Your little one will love being snuggled into that afghan!

I'll teach you to knit!Actually...knitting is much easier than crochet. I learned from Susan Bates "Learn to Knit" book. I'm also pretty sure that you could watch a few YouTube videos and pick it up pretty quickly. Knitting is not a bad way to pass the time while you wait for the baby to arrive.
