... and I've been thinking about how to lay them out, and with what sort of background? I haven't completely ruled out flannel, as that would make it quite cozy for baby... and I fooled with the below layout, using surrounding fabric that matches the inside of each block - which I also like:

I also thought about laying it out on the diagonal, from top left to bottom right corner... since Side A is very straight and linear. I'm sure my explanation is vague so I need to lay that out to see if it strikes my fancy. I hope to have this quilt finished in the next couple of weeks! Yay!!! I guess I've only got about 8 weeks LEFT to piddle-jack around - eeek!* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
And I've gotten another batch of blocks in from my girls in the Sew New to Me VQB!

from Gretchen891There is such creativity and genius in this group - and I'm so honored to be a part of this bee! Each and every block is fabulous - and I know this quilt will be in my family for ages! Thanks to all you fabulous ladies! I'll be laying them all out together and see what my finished quilt will look like - great motivation if I've ever seen any! Pics coming soon... stay tuned!

I love those rectangular blocks you made they look great! Flannel sounds nice too, for some extra coziness. Can't wait to see it all finished and I'm excited to see your blocks from your quilting bee all together, I really love the fabrics you chose for that.
Ooo...fun project. I want to reach in there and monkey with it. I'd be interested to see your baby quilt with the smaller blocks *not* being on the larger fabric that best matches them. And maybe put some distance between the dots and green wood (two in center now) since they are the two lightest?
It's gonna look so great!
Your baby quilt is going to be totally cool and fabulous! Those blocks you made are so original, I love them!
The baby quilt beginnings are awesome! It's looking so good!
love the colors of your new blocks! Your babe is gonna be one lucky one with all those quilts of love!
Side B looks good so far. I like the long rectangles and the layout that you have pictured here. I look forward to seeing what you come up with for the final layout.
我從來不認為不同意我的看法就是冒犯..................................................
i LOVE side B! it looks really GREAT!
this layout is amazing..i love how it is coming together
I love your rectangular blocks! Look forward to seeing the finish. The VQB blocks are wonderful!
Cristin, side B is very cool. Different but compliments side A. The grey green blocks are so motivating. I want to start a new project. yikes!
I love side B! And the layouts you have look great! I can't wait to see more.
i love your blocks... they look fantastic!
Comming along so well--Lovely color combo
I am so loving side B!
Loving how your baby quilt is coming along. The colors are just perfect! I saw your pics over on flickr and just had to pop over here to see the goods. =)
I like the idea of how you have it laid out. But like rossie said, it might look good mixed up a bit.
What about alternating or playing around with some horizontal and vertical blocks together?
I backed two quilts with flannel recently and I'm sold - I vote for flannel for a little babby!
Wow everything looks fun and fresh! Naptime quilter said to check it out and I'm so glad I did! Great work
I love the way you pick up the centre fabrics with the background for each block! I don't think it's too linear - the way you've laid it out with each block off centre makes it different enough to side A that it works really well.
BTW, I really like your fabric choice, particularly the ducks, and the burnt orange with cream spots. A friend of mine made my daughter a quilt with that spot fabric as part of it, and I LOVE it!!
I love love the rectangular blocks, they have some of my favourite fabrics in them. Love your blog by the way!
I love the idea of the center fabrics with the outer the same. I've done it and the impact is great.
